Chatting with Mao at Starbucks in the Forbidden City
What would Moa see that would surprise him, certainly a Starbucks at the top of the Forbidden City is going to give him a little gas, but what else? Do you think Chairman Mao would smile at all the healthy people in their Western clothes going about there day in a peaceful and orderly way? What would he think of the skyscrapers and the western style malls, with everyone having a cell phone attached to their ear? Do you think that if he walked around a bit saw the way that China is working today, that he would be agreeing with some of Friedman's theorys and try to leave it alone and let the yin and yang of the free market work themselves out?

Untapped - The Scramble For Africa's Oil
Since 1990 alone, the petroleum industry has invested more than $20 billion in exploration and production activity in Africa. Three of the world's largest oil companies - the British-Dutch consortium Shell, France's Total, and America's Chevron - are spending 15 percent, 30 percent, and 35 percent respectively of their global exploration and production budgets in Africa. Chevron alone is in the process of rolling out $20 billion in African projects over a five-year period.

I Was Attacked By Predatory Packaging
Predatory packaging it's out there - and it's everywhere. It could be targeting you, your family, your loved ones. We have heard those terms bandied about, but just what exactly is predatory packaging?
It seems everyone has a different perception what this means. Similar nomenclature could include the terms misleading or deceptive packaging or packaging that promises one thing and delivers another. But simply put it's when any group or person deems a package is using unsavory marketing/advertising practices to lure consumers to purchase their products - and it has been going on for a long time.

Survivor, of Sorts
This week's events brought back some chilling memories for me-not something I wanted to be pulled out of the archives. Tragedy is scary, no matter who it hits or where they're from.
